Having spent the morning nervously checking the weather forecast, roughly 30 past and current players were relieved to be able to meet at the club for the pre-match lunch (prepared by Ann Tennant) before heading out to play. The Legends posted 198-6, with David Heavyside, Will Carter and Shomit Dutta each retiring on 30 not out. Unfortunately, the current players (some of whom had spent the previous day at the Blast Finals) fell 32 runs short - though there was an admirable 35 not out from Sanjoy Bassi, an amusing slippery bat flying out of the hand when playing a shot incident (the heavens opened shortly before the end of the match) and we would not be forgiven if we didn't mention Chris Price's 3 fer (David Heavyside also took 3 wickets).
It was really lovely to see so many old players, many of whom brought their families (other halves, children and parents) and friends back at the club.
A big thank you to Chris Price and Sam Musk for arranging the event, Mike Knox and Steve Noyes for umpiring, Anish Patil for scoring and Mags Wilson for the teas.
Looking forward to seeing you all again next year.
